What is Preventiimi?
Preventiimi is a specialist network organization that works in the field of youth substance abuse prevention. The main aims of Preventiimi are:
- to organize first-rate updating education in youth substance abuse prevention
- to develop co-operation between municipal and non-governmental organizations in youth work
- to advance and spread the standard and evaluation of activities and methods in substance abuse prevention
- to develop methods and policies in youth substance abuse prevention
Preventiimi provides knowledge, education and some material in the field of youth substance abuse prevention in Finnish and some in Swedish.
Preventiimi is administered by University of Applied Sciences (HUMAK) and funded by Ministry of Education in Finland.

Preventiimi as a network
Preventiimi has a network of almost 70 member organizations. The member organizations represent municipalities, organizations, foundations, companies and institutions of learning. For the network Preventiimi offers meetings, monthly bulletins, excursions, peer support and a chance to learn about quality in preventive work.
Preventiimi internationally
Preventiimi is mainly a national organization, but has also some international engagements. Preventiimi visits some european country each year in order to learn about the preventive work done there. Preventiimi also has some international co-operation. Preventiimi has presented its pattern to foreign organizations and is always willing to share ideas and thoughts when it comes to Preventiimis field of expertiese.
